Hello, I am Nicola and I love flowers! I have had many careers, working as a primary school teacher, architect and estate agent amongst others! I love art and design, cold water swimming, formula one, cricket, dogs and crafts. I have been growing cut flowers for myself and to give to family and friends for years and in 2021 I decided to start Gentle Blooms. Why gentle? Well I was pretty shocked when I found out a large proportion of the cut flowers we buy in this country are grown in Africa and South America and are flown in to Holland for the flower auctions. They are kept refrigerated and are smothered with chemicals to prevent insect damage and prolong their vase life. I wanted to provide locally grown flowers that are gentle to the planet, wildlife and humans. No airmiles, all grown here in my garden in Leamington Spa and at my plot in the local village of Napton. I try to be as sustainable and wildlife friendly as I possibly can and don’t use any chemicals, but organic and horticultural solutions to pests and other problems. I am always looking for new plants to add to my collection, you will always find something different in my bouquets and they will smell heavenly too! I am a member of flowers from the farm, a collective of flower farmers from all over the country, if I am too far away to deliver to you I can find someone who will!
